OOTD- Tuesday's Hot and Cold

I never ever thought I would say this, but...I am going to be so sad when summer is over. My whole life I've hated this season...the heat, the humidity, the sweating... but this year something is different. I can't put my finger on it and I'm sure I have had better summers than this particular one, but for some reason I've been having such a great time the past few months I can't bear the thought of the colder weather rolling in and ruining all my fun. This is a total shocker to me since a few months ago I was in a pretty bad place. (This isn't really the post to get into that, although I'm sure I'll address it at some point.) If you had told me my summer was going to be awesome, I would have laughed in your face. I guess that's the beauty of life- the unexpected, the twists and turns. I figure I've got about one month left of late nights, the warmth, buzzing around like a busy bee, always on the go before the fog rolls back in and I settle down with some hot cocoa for three to six months. (I envy bears who can just fatten up and then sleep all day every day until they wake up, go outside and the sun is magically shining!)

Here's what I wore today... I felt like making a statement...literally. This is my motto:

Rainbow shoes!!!

I had lunch at this great deli I had never been to before. I tried the "blue cow" which had roast beef, caramelized onions, blue cheese and a really good sauce on ciabatta. I also sampled a turkey with pepper jack on a sourdough roll. The bread was so soft and good. And in the bowl? Chipotle potato salad- my new favorite. Yummy!!

Also, I went to see The Help. I am still reading the book- about halfway through- and I was going to wait but I just couldn't hold out anymore. Friends were going so I tagged along. I wouldn't normally do this because I have to read the book first and then see the movie after, but oh well...I broke my own rule! I can't say enough how good this movie is. I have to admit when I first heard the buzz around this book, I wasn't that interested. The wait list for it at my library was pretty long. I signed up, even checked it once or twice, but never actually read it. Then when I saw the previews for the movie, I thought the same thing- looks good, but not that interested in seeing it and also didn't understand what all the hype was about. It wasn't until my mom read it, my sister started reading it, and I got a copy handed to me from a friend, that I finally dove in. I was hooked from the first page. Was not expecting that, but I love it when that happens. I don't know why I didn't think the premise was that interesting because now I am fascinated and obsessed. The movie is one of the best I have seen in a long while. Def one of my top pick come Oscar time. Acting, casting, everything was spot on. And the costumes were beautiful- so colorful! I was mesmerized by the fashions. I held it together as long as I could, but about 1/2 hour from the end, I lost it. I think I entered the ugly cry. It was so emotional! (I am a crybaby anyway, but for some reason, the story just really brought it out of me.) I know the feeling when everyone is raving about something and you automatically kind of don't like it because all you hear is how great it is. That happens to me all the time. But I just had to say I now get it. The book and movie just speak to me I guess. I'm kind of surprised, but cannot recommend either enough. Thanks for letting me ramble, just had to get all this off my chest.
