Fashion Friday- April looks so far

We're only halfway through April, but already these celebs are catching my eye...

Seriously- this is NOT FAIR. Beyond jealous.
Love this girly and flirty little number.
Simple LBD with a neat neckline.
The little black sleeves are so cute. Love her bangs too.

Have a good weekend everyone!!
I'm planning on doing some good old fashioned spring cleaning, HULU watching, and making a trip to the library.

If I get half of the things on my to do list done, I'll be good!
Hopefully I can be super productive.

P.S. I had a dream about Flight of the Conchords last night.
Random.
It's totally staying with me too...
Get out of my head Brett and Jemaine!! :-)

Go Niners!

Niners beat the Saints!

That game was cray-cray everyone. Almost too intense to watch.

But the boys came through. I think it was because of me.

I went all out with the color coordination.

Red and Tan!

And even J.R. my pillow pet came along to the viewing/pizza party to show his support.

His name is now J.R. Davis in honor of Vernon, my new fave player and MVP.

Next up, they gotta beat the Packers. It's gonna be tough, but they can do it!

GO NINERS!

Other than that I plan on spending what's left of the weekend trying to tackle the enormous ongoing project of getting my disaster of a room organized and cleaned. I hauled one huge bag of clothes to the thrift store a few weeks ago and I've almost got another one filled.
I really hang on to stuff for too long.
Story of my life.
I'm getting better but it's a process.

I always feel better after I simplify, it's just hard for me in the moment to get rid of things.

My goal is get this done this weekend, by tomorrow. I have put it off long enough.
There will be a lot of coffee in my future.
Speaking of...

I made this New York Crumb Cake to enjoy with a cup of joe.

I've come to realize I'm not that good of a baker.
I can make a few things pretty well, but trying new things doesn't ever really work out or turn out the right way.
I also think I don't really like unsalted butter. Every time I use it I think that.
Is it ok to use salted instead even if the recipe calls for unsalted?
Any great bakers out there with some insight?
Sprinkling the powdered sugar on was the best part- besides licking the beater.
Side note: I made a HUGE mess in my kitchen.

Well I'm off to get prepared for my huge cleaning day tomorrow.
I hope I get it done before the Golden Globes so I can watch without feeling guilty.

I'll be back tomorrow with my picks for best dressed!

Nature Time Out

Sometimes when life starts to feel a little overwhelming the best thing you can do is give yourself a time out.

Why should little ones have all the fun?

I always feel calmer and more optimistic when I take a minute to relax, breathe, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings I am fortunate enough to be close to.

I hate that indescribable restless/anxious feeling I seem to get quite often. Since I can't always hit the road or runaway like my instincts tell me to when I feel that way, I have to find a solution a little closer to home. Sometimes, nothing but traveling far far away will cure it though.
I can't help it- I am a gypsy nomad at heart. I blame the 'rents.

My attempt at a top knot now my hair is (slowly) growing

Yes, I found some....the elusive Missoni for Target knit patterned flats. I found them at the Target in Yuba City, CA. (Random, I know.) They had a ton of shoes (heels and rain boots too) and some home wear, along with one floppy hat I found in with the wallets for some weird reason. A lot of it was marked down too- the shoes were all half price! If you're still on the lookout try checking the clearance section, or some items have been restocked online too.

What do you do to relax when it feels like the walls are closing in?

My Weekend- To the Movies

Hi everyone!

Yesterday I ventured out to one of my favorite places, the movie theater.

I was a little disappointed in the lack of selection of movies playing.

Usually there's always so many movies I want to see I can't decide which one.

Sadly, that wasn't really the case, but I picked the new Sherlock Holmes movie to fill my afternoon up with.

It was pretty good- except for a few parts when I had to close my eyes!

I thought it was a lot better than the first one- but I HATED the first one and covered my eyes at MANY parts on that one. ( I am a total wuss when it comes to anything gory or violent.)

That's why THIS is an ABSOLUTE MUST!

OOTD:

I am venturing into the land of the boot tuck and I so far I like it! It's so hard to not get knee bunching though!

I couldn't wait to bust out this new coat from Old Navy I got on super sale, but I didn't really need it. It has been pretty cold the last week, but today was pretty warm.

I might have been accused of owning too much plaid (by a certain person who shall remain nameless that I may or may not be married to ) but Is there such a thing as too much plaid? I love it- especially on coats!

Pained expression... not sure why!
I also spent some time this weekend with Midnight In Paris. I had seen it before but couldn't really concentrate at the time and have been wanting to re-watch it for a while.

Just as good the second time!

Can't wait to see if it snags any awards this year!

My Weekend-Coat Closet Redo

It's the beginning of another week...I can't believe it!

My weekend was totally low key. I spent it baking cookies, doing laundry and finally cleaning out that pesky coat closet that has been neglected for about 10 months.

It has been a catch-all for chaos, so it felt really good to pull everything out, sort, organize, and then put everything back in it's place. I finally have a spot for my 3 pairs of rain boots I reach for every time it snows (which is a lot at my house) and all my coats look so pretty and happy hanging in their particular place.

All my winter coats hanging prettily in a row. No Before pic - sorry! Trust me, it was bad!

I went through and tried on so much stuff- just to make sure each item was worth keeping. I also consolidated my many hats, scarves, and gloves into a much more manageable system of keeping them in an open box for easy access. I've been on the hunt for a really cute bin with handles to store them in, but haven't found many choices. Wal Mart had cheap ones, but they were WAY too boring and Target had some, but none of the patterns really called out to me. I checked the Container store online and couldn't really find a must have one either. So I'm going to keep checking online and also at Ross or Marshall's to see if I can find something cute to house my favorite winter accessories.

Cardboard box just waiting to be replaced with something pretty.
And, trying to embrace the upcoming winter weather.

I was feeling kind of crafty so I cut out birds out of cute paper and taped them to the inside of the coat closet door. I know, I know, more birds! They are just temporary, but I was so proud of my newly non cluttered space, I wanted to celebrate by jazzing things up, and giving me a reason to smile every time I open the door. I also snuck some snowflakes in there just because they're pretty! I had a ton of craft paper so my shoe closet got some cut out hearts too! Ah the wonders of Dollar Store craft section, a good pair of sharp scissors, and a chick flick you've seen a million times playing in the background. *Bride Wars, in case you were wondering!

My Weekend- Bridge Phobia

I thought as people got older their thinking became more rational, reasonable and wise....Right? Then why are my fears and phobias getting increasingly worse as I age? When I was younger I loved airplanes and thought flying was SO fun. I never gave a second thought to taking the elevator, driving over a bridge or anything of that sort. Fast-forward a decade or so and BAM! my brain is like phobia central. Among the very long list are -you guessed it- flying, elevators, and bridges. I have cried on planes, cried going over bridges, and worked many a calf muscle hauling luggage up many a flight of stairs to avoid unsavory looking death trap elevators. I am a pretty big scardey cat when it comes to a lot of things.
It has been hard for me to reconcile my love of San Francisco with my completely ballistic fear of any high bridge over water. So why this weekend did I end up traveling over the Golden Gate 3 times and the Bay Bridge once? I guess I am a glutton for punishment.
It was worth it.

The beauty is not lost on me...
But that mile and a half feels like a million. Am I a total freak?
Chillin' in the Presidio
Yoda
Inside the Lucasfilm lobby
With my precious little niece

The Starbucks on site there has Star Wars themed items everywhere
In honor of Yoda: "Brew or Brew Not, There Is No Try"

Yes, I am a total nerd.
Star Wars geek and loving it!

Of course there was more fro yo. This time I tried cinnamon with graham crackers and PUMPKIN. I love the few months when pumpkin flavors are everywhere!
And these pics were snapped at a Celtic Festival I went to.
I wish I got more pics of all the costumes...it was men in skirts as far as the eye could see.
Tons of music, shopping and good food!

This band was from Scotland- shout out to my sissy!
And last but not least:
Found this in a booth selling all sorts of Tshirts
I could not pass this up!
Pagan is my maiden name. Before I became MR I was MP. I always pronounced it the regular way (Pay-g-In), but in Puerto Rico you say (Pa - gahn.)
That's right- islands of the barbarians- represent!
